Ending the 'Additional Garden Waste' scheme
We're contacting everyone who is part of the 'Additional Garden Waste' scheme (whereby residents could pay to have more bins emptied during their regular garden waste collections), because it will end when our new Garden Waste Subscription Scheme begins.
If you've already made an 'Additional Garden Waste' payment for 2024, we'll automatically subscribe you to the new scheme, so that you have continued garden waste services for the rest of this season.
Find out what happens when the new scheme begins.
Garden waste services until the new scheme begins
If you've already made an 'Additional Garden Waste' payment for 2024 (covering the garden waste season, March to December):
- we'll automatically subscribe you to the new scheme, so that your collections continue for the rest of this season
- we'll post bin stickers to you, to attach to your garden waste bin (the number of stickers you receive will be equal to the number of bins you've already paid for being emptied this season)
- position your garden waste bin at the front edge of your property (or agreed collection point) by 7.00am on your scheduled collection day, but no earlier than 7.00pm the evening before, making sure the new sticker is clearly visible
- our Waste Team will use 'in-cab' technology to identify which properties have paid
- we'll continue to collect your garden waste until December 2024
Check the dates we collect garden waste using our online waste collection calendar (it shows collection information from December to November; if your final garden waste collection takes place in early December this will only show after the calendar has been updated).
If your garden waste collection has been missed, check our waste collection updates for details of any known service issues.
We will not issue any refund of your Additional Garden Waste payment if a collection is missed, but you may be able to report a missed collection - see details of how we deal with missed garden waste collections.
If a garden waste collection is missed, we'll only return to collect waste from bins which are part of the 'Additional Garden Waste' service. For example, if you have 3 garden waste bins at your property, and pay for 2 as part of the 'Additional Garden Waste' service, we'll only return to collect for 2 of the 3.
Garden waste collections once the new scheme begins
Please note, when the new Garden Waste Subscription Scheme begins we'll no longer be collecting any bins for free, if you'd previously paid for 1 'additional' bin to be collected, we'll then only empty 1 bin.
When the new scheme begins, if you want us to collect more garden waste bins from your property you'll need to add more subscriptions.
