Residents of Walmgate and Fishergate are invited to drop-in sessions about the next steps to build 140 affordable, energy-efficient homes and improve local residential areas.
Walmgate
People living in Walmgate are invited to chat with members of the Council’s Housing Delivery Programme (HDP) and the design team including architects from Mikhail Riches. This conversation with residents and local businesses will review early work carried out in 2021 and inform the team about people’s priorities.
It will also help shape ideas about the design of about 40 new homes on the site of the former Willow House care home, and improvements to the south Walmgate area.

Fishergate
Clearance work is beginning at our Ordnance Lane site to make it ready to build 101 affordable homes there. All new homes will be built to Passivhaus standards and the historic Victorian ‘married quarters’ will be refurbished to be highly energy-efficient. All residents and neighbours of the site are invited to drop in to find out more at an information session.
At the event will be members of Rhodar, the contractor working on the preparation stage of the site, and members of City of York Council’s HDP team who are overseeing the work. There, the site plans will be shared and working practices on site such as hours, utilities and noise levels.
