An alarm on a property is the responsibility of the owner or occupier.
If your alarm sounds accidentally and causes a noise nuisance you may have to pay the costs we incur to turn the alarm off which could amount to several hundred pounds.
Preventing your alarm becoming a noise nuisance
We recommend that you:
- have the alarm serviced regularly
- fit a 20-minute cut-off device (so that the alarm will sound for a maximum of 20 minutes)
- ensure sensors cannot be triggered accidentally (for example, by open windows or pets activating sensors)
You can download and complete a 'confidential keyholders form' so that we know who to contact in the event of a complaint about your alarm.
