You can now access your business rates account, or report changes to your business at any time of the day or night, 7 days a week, using the business rates online Citizens Access portal.
As a business owner, landlord or agent, without having to register, you can now:
- report that a business has moved into the area
- report that a business has moved out of the area
- set-up a Direct Debit to pay business rates
- search a Rateable Value
Citizens Access Business Rates
Sign up to:
- check your balance, see instalments due and payments received
- view your account details online
- set up a Direct Debit
- update your existing Direct Debit
- access any issued reminders, final notices and summons
- make a payment and check previous payments
- check whether you are in receipt of any Exemptions or Discounts
- search your Rateable Value
- update your contact details without needing to speak to the council
- get 24/7 access to your account
Register for Citizens Access business rates
Registration is a simple and quick process.
Log on to Citizens Access Business Rates and select ‘sign in' or 'register'.
Make sure that you have your business rates account number to hand. You can register for access at any time.
You'll be asked to enter an email address and create a username and password. Once you've registered, you will receive an email thanking you for choosing to use our online service and asking you to click on a link to verify your email address.
Using Citizens Access business rates
Once registered you can download a summary copy of your last bill by registering to view your account online. You'll continue to receive written notices. We're developing a service so that our customers can opt to receive electronic communications instead of paper notices in the future.
Your account is viewed in ‘real time’, but please be aware that payments you make have to be processed by our bank and allocated to your account which can take up to 5 working days. Please bear this in mind when viewing your account balance.
If you have a council tax account and a business rates account, You'll need to log in separately using your council tax account number and your business rates account number as your accounts are separate.
If any of your details are incorrect and this cannot be resolved using any of our new online forms, to report contact the Business Rates Team.
Forgotten password or username
If you have forgotten your password or username, there are forgotten password or username links that you can click on when you go to sign in.
These will take you to a page where you can enter your email address or username, then you will be sent a password reset link by email to the email address you provided when you first registered.
Privacy and security
It will not be possible for anyone to view your account details without knowing your username and password.
