Prospective employers are responsible for applying for a permit by completing a Child Employment Application Form. There is no charge for a child work permit and we aim to issue permits within 10 working days.
Parts of the form must be completed by:
- the employer, to confirm they will abide by the law regarding the child's employment and that they have the appropriate insurance cover
- the child's parent/carer giving consent
- the head teacher at the child's school that the employment will not negatively affect the child's education
A Risk Assessment must be carried out by the employer.
Work permits will be issued direct to the child. Employers will be notified separately. Work permits will have a date of expiry, and are not valid after this date. Employers must reapply for a replacement.
