There are a number of successful community venues in York - here are just a few examples:
Lidgett Grove
Run by the Lidgett Grove Methodist Church, this community venue is developing its programme of activities and events. The café was set up following Joseph Rowntree Foundation research which found that local people needed a place to meet.
Clements Hall
Clements Hall originally belonged to St Clement's Church. It was sold to the St Clement's Hall Preservation Trust which was set up by a group of local people to save it for use by the local community. The Trust is now the main leaseholder and Clement's Hall now offers a number of activities including a community cinema, as well as offering space for events and meetings.

Oaken Grove Community Centre
At Oaken Grove Community Centre, an active group of volunteers organise and run activities and events for the community.
Formerly Oaken Grove Primary School, the building was leased to the Trustees of Haxby and Wigginton Youth and Community Association to run as a community centre.
