Premises with cooling towers and 'evaporative condensers' must register with us under the Notification of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulations, 1992. We keep a Cooling Tower Register so that we know where these systems are, helping us to:
- identify areas at risk of increasing the spread of infectious disease, such as Legionella
- ensure preventative measures are taken to eliminate the risk of infection for employees and the public
- assist businesses to control risks from Legionella and to take action if they are not adequately controlled
Registering premises
Complete and return your registration form for a cooling tower or evaporative condenser at your premises, including:
- the address where the cooling tower(s) or evaporative condenser(s) are located
- the name and contact details of the person(s) in control of the premises
- the number of cooling towers or evaporative condensers at the premises
- a brief description of the location where the equipment is situated at the premises (this may include a site plan)
- any other relevant information
We will normally acknowledge receipt of your notification in writing within ten working days. Your notification will be added to our register.
