HMO licensing fees

If you're the landlord of a House of Multiple Occupation (HMO) which requires licensing you should apply for an HMO licence via our online Licensing Portal.

If you need to renew your existing HMO licence, please contact HMO licensing for a link to the online Licensing Renewal Portal via email: hmolicensing@york.gov.uk.

HMO licence fees are collected in 2 payments:

  1. your first fee payment will be required once your application has been assessed and accepted as complete, you will be notified of this and be required to make payment immediately in order for your application to be confirmed
  2. your second fee payment will need to be paid when your application has been processed and we have decided to grant the licence issued

There is a reduction of £75 to the second fee if you've already attended a recognised training course.

Note: All quoted fees are for the current financial year and are VAT exempt. As of 1 April each year please be aware that these fees will increase.
