Loudspeakers causing noise

Under the Control of Pollution Act, 1974 it is an offence to operate a loudspeaker in the street between 9.00pm and 8.00am.

In addition, loudspeakers can't be used in the street at any time for advertising any entertainment, trade or business.

Where you are allowed to use a loudspeaker you must ensure that it does not cause an annoyance to those nearby.

Vehicles selling perishable foods, such as ice cream vans, may use loudspeakers between midday and 7.00pm.
