Once you have registered with us, you will receive a letter confirming your application has been processed and it will confirm the types of properties you can bid for.
Types of council homes and who is eligible
Applicants are eligible different types of property, based on how many people are in their household.
There is no limit on floor level for families with young children; if a 2 bedroom 2nd floor flat is available and you place a bid, this will be considered a reasonable offer unless there are proven, assessed needs as to why a 2nd floor flat would not be accessible.
When you place bids you must ensure that the bid is placed on a property and area in which you would like to live.
1 adult or couple:
- shared house
- bedsit or studio
- 1 bedroom flat, maisonette or house
- 1 bedroom bungalow
2 adults:
- 2 bedroom flat, maisonette or house
2 adults over 60:
- 1 bedroom flat, maisonette or house
- 1 bedroom bungalow
- 2 bedroom flat, maisonette or house
- 2 bedroom bungalow
3 adults:
- 2 bedroom flat, maisonette or house
- 2 bedroom bungalow
1 or 2 adults with 1 child:
- 2 bedroom flat, maisonette or house
- 2 bedroom bungalow
1 or 2 adults with 2 children aged less than 10, regardless of sex:
- 2 bedroom flat, maisonette or house
- 2 bedroom bungalow
1 or 2 adults with 2 children of the same sex, where both are under 16 years of age:
- 2 bedroom flat, maisonette or house
- 2 bedroom bungalow
1 or 2 adults with 2 children of the same sex, where one is over 16 years of age:
- 3 bedroom flat, maisonette or house
1 or 2 adults with 2 children of different sex, where one is over 10 years of age:
- 3 bedroom flat, maisonette or house
1 or 2 adults with 3 children:
- 3 bedroom flat, maisonette or house
1 or 2 adults with 4 children:

1 or 2 adults with 5+ children:

Independent Living
Some flats and bungalows are classed as Independent Living accommodation. This type of accommodation is generally intended for people who are aged 60 or over and/or need support to help them maintain their independence. Applicants will be assessed as to whether they need this type of accommodation.
