If you drop litter (on public or private land, or in water) you're committing a criminal offence under the Environmental Protection Act, 1990 and could be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN).
We patrol local areas to proactively monitor littering and use signs to highlight the fines you'll face if you drop litter.

Report littering
Report littering to our Neighbourhood Enforcement Team by providing information such as:
- date and time you witnessed the offence
- location where you witnessed the offence
- description of person who dropped the litter
- your name and contact details (which will remain confidential)
We'll issue an FPN for littering if you're able to provide a full witness statement that contains sufficient evidence to identify the offender and demonstrate a prosecutable offence has taken place.
Report litter
Report litter online if you notice rubbish in a certain location, but didn't witness the crime.
You can also report issues with public litter bins or dog waste bins.
