The Housing Ombudsman introduced their Complaint Handling Code in July 2020. It sets out good practice that will allow landlords, for example the council, to respond to complaints effectively and fairly.
Following a review one year after it was introduced, which demonstrated overwhelming support for the Code, the Housing Ombudsman updated it to strengthen provisions to support a positive complaint handling culture.
The council must carry out an annual assessment against the Code to ensure our complaint handling remains in line with its requirements and publish the results.
See our current Housing Ombudsman Self Assessment.
You can find out more about the Complaint Handling Code on the Housing Ombudsman’s website.
