A lightning conductor is a piece of equipment that protects tall buildings from a lightning strike. It does this by providing an easier path for current to flow to earth, instead of through the building.
A good connection to the ground is essential and is made by burying a large metal plate deep in the damp earth.
Lightning conductor checks and testing
It is important that all our lightning conductors are visually inspected and earth bondings are tested every year.
Our approved contractor (Central Highrise Ltd) carries out checks on our 11 high-rise flats in Acomb:
- Arncliffe House
- Askrigg House
- Aysgarth House
- Bentham House
- Buckden House
- Gargrave House
- Gisburn House
- Ingleton House
- Settle House
