If you have no gas:
- check your gas supply and meter are working
- check that your main gas tap has not been turned off
- contact your gas supplier if your gas meter is faulty
Old style card operated gas meters
If you have a card operated gas meter, try the following:
- check if there's money on your gas card
- check if the words 'ON' or 'OFF' are displayed on the screen on the meter; If 'OFF', turn off your appliances then reinsert the card
- press the red button; the screen will display 'repress and HOLD the red button'
- the meter will bleep and make a whirring noise that will go off when charged to 'ON' and your gas supply will be back on
- if 'call help' appears on the screen, contact the telephone number on your gas card
Pre-payment smart meters
Press any of the buttons to activate the display, if there is an issue with your meter it should say “no credit” or “gas off.”
If neither of these are displayed and you still don’t have gas you could try topping up again or otherwise contact your energy supplier for a new card or meter.
