Conducting services and speaking at a funeral
If you're conducting a service or speaking at a funeral in York Crematorium, please be aware that:
- there's a microphone on the lectern in both the White Rose chapel, and The Ebor Chapel
- if you move away from the lectern while speaking the system will not pick up your voice, and it will not be recorded
- during hymns the speaker should step off the lectern, so the microphone does not record a single voice and can record a more ambient sound
To ensure a quality recording up to the end of the service it is important that once the last of the mourners have left the chapel the person taking the service and/or the undertaking staff do not re-enter the chapel until the recording is stopped. Crematorium staff will indicate when to re-enter.
