This is the largest and best known of York's historic strays. Micklegate Stray is made up of distinct areas: Scarcroft Green, Scarcroft allotments, Hospital Fields allotments and Hob Moor allotments, Hob Moor, Little Hob Moor and the Knavesmire, home to the city's famous racecourse, and the Little Knavesmire.

Buses
Buses run frequently from the city centre to Blossom Street, The Mount or Pulleyn Drive.

By bike
There is a signposted cycle route from the Millennium Bridge to Micklegate Stray. A cycle path around the south of the Knavesmire leads via York College to Sustrans Route 65 to Selby. There are also cycle paths to Acomb and Woodthorpe.
Parking
The nearest council car park is Nunnery Lane car park (approximately 15-minutes away, on foot).
You can also use available on-street parking in the surrounding streets, showing consideration for local residents.
