Glen Gardens has been awarded a Green Flag Award every year since 2005. Sites that carry Green Flag status are considered to be the best in the country.
A traditional neighbourhood park on Heworth's main street, one mile east of York city centre. Cycling is not allowed in the gardens.

Glen Garden is now opened in the morning and closed at dusk by local volunteers. Should any volunteers wish to take on locking or unlocking of the Gardens please email ycc@york.gov.uk or tel: 01904 551550 to register your interest. Support and training is provided.

Buses
Buses run frequently from the city centre to Glen Road.
For up-to-date information about local bus routes see the iTravel York website.
By bike
The Foss Islands cycle route crosses Hawthorn Grove just west of the park.
Parking
The nearest council car park is East Parade car park (approximately 2-minutes away, on foot).
You can also use available on-street parking in the surrounding streets, showing consideration for local residents.
However, please note that a number of surrounding streets fall with Residents' Priority Parking Scheme zones
