The EDI Strategy Consultation closed on Monday 3 March 2025.
Thank you to everyone who took part and gave us their views on our Draft Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy - 2024 to 2027. We:
- received hundreds of survey responses
- held 6 focus groups with members of diverse communities
- held a public meeting
We're now working through the responses to the survey and will be reporting back in the coming months.
This exercise is vital to fulfilling our duty to consider how our work affects diverse communities and to reduce disadvantages for people with protected characteristics. It also helps us fulfil our obligations to protecting staff and customers from discrimination.
As a core commitment within our Council Plan we’re ambitious for and committed to achieving continuous improvement and equity across all our services and functions.
We aim to deliver services that are equitable to all our customers and implement robust strategies and policies that are person-centred and considerate of individual needs.
As an employer we will ensure equity in the recruitment, training and promotion of our employees as well as celebrate diversity within the workplace and our city, encouraging our employees to embrace continuous learning and development in all aspects of their role as officers and as individuals supporting our communities.
As part of this process our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy (EDI Strategy) aims to ensure we deliver on our commitments and, drive change at all levels of the council.
