Mediation is about helping people who have a disagreement with other people to sort out the problem as quickly and simply as possible.
Contact our Community Safety Unit if you need help settling a dispute with a neighbour.
Our mediators can visit you to listen to your problems, and can help you work out an agreement with the other person. You don’t have to meet directly with the other person and if mediation doesn’t work there are other options we can advise you on.
What happens during mediation
Our mediators:
- don’t take sides
- are there to help
- listen to what you say and how you feel
They will not tell you what to do, but will talk to you and the other people who have the disagreement, and help you come to your own agreements about how to make things better.
If you would like a friend, helper or an advocate to help you make your comments and be with you during the meeting, or you need any other support with mediation, contact our Community Safety Unit.
