We closely monitor our progress against the priorities in our Council Plan.
Every year we produce quarterly and annual reports with details on our performance, progress and achievements for the whole financial year. Our annual report is separate from our Statement of Accounts, which contains full details of our expenditure, income and financial position.

Performance Management Framework
Performance Management is essential to the success of City of York Council in delivering the ambitions of the Council Plan, and is a vital element of forward planning, risk management and continuous improvement.
The Performance Management Framework outlines the roles, responsibilities, tools and reporting cycles the council has committed to for monitoring and reviewing performance.
Productivity Plan
Councils across the United Kingdom were asked to submit a short productivity plan to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government in July 2024, covering high level approach to transformation, technology, spend and barriers.
See York’s Productivity Plan submission.
York Open Data
In March 2015, we launched York Open Data which gives you access to our data.
Copies of supporting Performance Scorecards are available to download, alongside a range of other datasets.
Peer challenges
Every few years we invite experienced members and officers from other councils to visit us, to assess how we're doing and provide feedback about how we can continue to improve. Find out more about our Peer Reviews.
