By-election called in Haxby and Wigginton Ward

The statement of persons nominated for election for the Haxby and Wigginton by-election has been published today, Friday 1 November 2024.

See details of who is standing in the Haxby and Wigginton By-Election in the Statement of Persons Nominated. The election will take place on Thursday 28 November with polling hours between 7.00am and 10.00pm, and with the count taking place at the close of poll.

Residents who are not currently registered to vote are encouraged to register online at: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote, or by calling telephone: 01904 551007.

All applications must be made by midnight on Tuesday 12 November.

Eligible residents can vote in one of 3 ways.

Vote in person, at your polling station: you are required to take photographic identification.

Vote by post: completed applications for a postal vote must be received by the council by 5.00pm on Wednesday 13 November. You can apply online at: www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote, or by calling telephone: 01904 551007, or you can download a paper postal vote application form.

Vote by proxy - someone votes on your behalf: completed applications for a proxy vote must be received by 5.00pm on Wednesday 20 November. You can apply online at: www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote, or by calling telephone: 01904 551007, or you can download a paper proxy vote application form.

Emergency proxy applications can be made in certain, specific circumstances at West Offices, Station Rise, up until 5.00pm on Thursday 28 November.

Photo ID

See a full list of accepted forms of photo ID. Please note that student cards are not among the accepted ID.

If you don't have an accepted form of photo ID, you no longer look like the photo on your ID, or the name on your photo ID is different to your name on the electoral register, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate online. Applications must be received by 5.00pm on Wednesday 20 November.
