Pay and display machines removed for cashless parking
Pay and display machines are to be removed from all on-street parking areas in York during October and November 2024, to be replaced with the Pay By Phone service.
You can park on-street in a number of locations across York.
Different restrictions and charges apply depending on the area, but local restrictions will always be clearly signposted.
If you have a York residents' Minster Badge you're entitled to discounted parking at certain times, in car parks and on-street parking bays.
You will need to pay to park using the Pay By Phone service at all locations.

Parking for over 2 hours is only allowed after 3.00pm.
1 and 2 hour charges apply every day from 8.00am to 6.00pm, except for Priory Street where the charges on Sunday do not start until 1.00pm.
Evening charges apply to all the above streets from 6.00pm until midnight.

The bays are available for parking from 6.00pm every evening through to 8.00am the following morning.
The charge is £4.00 for any length of stay between 6.00pm and 8.00am, or £1 for Minster Badge holders.
The charges apply Monday to Saturday at St Denys Road and every day at Fossgate, The Stonebow and Walmgate.
On-street parking in residents' parking zones
If you are not a member of the residents' priority parking scheme (ResPark) a resident of a parking zone, you can park for up to 1 hour in some of the spaces provided that you buy a 'pay and display' ticket.
If you are a resident of the parking zone you do not have to pay, and there is no limit to how long you can park, provided that you display a resident parking permit for the correct zone.

All the ResPark pay and display bays allow parking for 1 hour only.
The charges apply every day from 8.00am to 8.00pm apart from Lead Mill Lane where they do not apply on Sundays.
