See details of requirements for location and site plans for planning applications.
Location plans
A location plan is required with every planning application and should be to a scale of 1:1250.
Once you have your plan, you will need to edge the application boundary in red with any other land in the same ownership edged in blue.
Site plans
A site plan is required with every planning application and should be to a scale of 1:200 or 1:500.
Once you have a plan showing the existing property, you will then need to draw any proposals onto the plan so that we can see the development in relation to the existing property and any neighbouring properties.
Ordering copies of plans
To order and purchase copies of location plans or site plans go to Acomb Explore, Tang Hall Explore or York Explore libraries
You can contact York Explore Libraries on email: york@exploreyork.org.uk, or telephone: 01904 552828.
Ordnance Survey licences
Most maps use Ordnance Survey data, which is protected by Crown Copyright. If you are submitting maps with Ordnance Survey data as part of your planning application, you must show the Ordnance Survey licence number on the plans.
If you do not show the Ordnance Survey licence number on the plans, or we believe that the data does not have the correct licence, your application will not be valid.
It is an offence to use Ordnance Survey data without the appropriate licence. We will notify you if your application is invalid for this reason.
