We don't permit coaches and minibuses with more than 16 seats within the city walls, except to access Lendal Arch 'gyratory' at Station Road.
Coaches are not permitted to use Lendal Bridge or Ouse Bridge.
Coaches may only use Skeldergate Bridge to cross the river in the city centre.

City centre coach parking
You can park coaches and larger minibuses in our designated coach parks at:
- St George's Field coach park (27 spaces)
- Union Terrace coach park (35 spaces)
We can't accommodate coaches or larger minibuses in any of our other car parks.

Coach drop-off and pick-up points
You may only drop off and/or pick up passengers in the city centre at coach parks or the following rendezvous points:
- Leeman Road (Railway Rendezvous)
- Fawcett Street (Castle Rendezvous)
- Foss Bank (Minster Rendezvous)
Coaches are not permitted to stop at bus stops immediately outside York Railway Station under any circumstances.
Rail replacement services
Contact York Station Manager for access to York Railway Station long stay car park if you're running rail replacement services.
Coaches must not stop in front of the station for any reason.
York Racecourse coach park
You should only drop off and pick up passengers attending York Racecourse within the Racecourse coach park, accessed via Bishopthorpe Road.
Note: This coach park is not managed by City of York Council.
Children and visitors with special needs
If you're carrying coach parties of young children or people with special needs (such as mobility problems), contact our Highway Licensing Team to apply for a permit to drop off/pickup within restricted areas.
In these circumstances, you must:
- make your application at least 7 days before your visit
- carry your permit onboard your vehicle for the duration of your visit
- park in a coach park once passengers have been dropped off
- return only at the agreed pickup time
