Payment of fees
Fees are payable for a licence, with fees covering the costs of the running and administering the scheme, such as:
- administration
- property visits or inspections
- advice and guidance
- other third party costs
- liaison with interested parties - for example, mortgage companies
- local democracy costs
Fees also cover costs of:
- development and production of licensing policies
- provision of website and web material
- the costs involved in setting and reviewing the fee itself
Licence fees are payable in 2 instalments. Instalment 1 is payable when making the initial application, providing that the application is complete. Instalment 2 is payable once a decision has been made by the local authority to grant the HMO licence.
