You don't have to live in York or be a council tenant to rent one of our garages.
Garages make ideal storage for items such as:
- small to medium cars
- motorbikes
- small trailers
- bicycles
- garden, gym and DIY equipment
You cannot use council garages for storage of items that are a health and safety issue, such as:
- gas canisters
- oil
- petrol
- other hazardous or flammable items
Council garages must not be used for any type of business activity.
Garage dimensions and facilities
Our garage dimensions are approximately as follows:
- width: 2.5 metres
- length: 5 metres
- height: 1.8 metres
The doorway width is approximately 2.2 metres.
The garages are single skin brick, with one air brick and an up and over door. There's no power or light in the garages so they are suitable only for storage.
Garage security
We don't accept responsibility for the damage, theft or loss of any property or items in the garage, regardless of the cause.
You don't need our permission to put an additional lock, such as a padlock or hasp lock, on the garage door, but you will need to remove these if you choose to give up the garage licence.
