Subscribing each garden waste season
The Garden Waste Subscription Scheme is an opt-in service; if you want us to collect your garden waste at the kerbside, you need to subscribe and pay per bin, per season. The garden waste season runs for 40 weeks per year, between early March and early December.
Once you've registered and verified your account, you need to complete the subscription form in order to receive your welcome pack (which includes bin stickers for your green wheelie bins).
To subscribe:
- Indicate that you've read and agree to the Garden Waste Subscription Scheme Privacy Notice.
- Choose whether you're subscribing for yourself or someone else (if you subscribe on behalf of somebody else, you will be responsible for compliance with the Garden Waste Subscription Scheme terms and conditions; our agreement is with you).
- Tell us if anyone at the collection address receives Council Tax Support (if you choose ‘yes’ we’ll use council tax records to check you receive Council Tax Support, and confirm your eligibility for a 50% discount on 1 bin sticker. You’re not eligible if you receive other council tax related discounts, such as Single Person Discount, or Student Discount. If you’re unsure about your eligibility telephone: 01904 551551. You’re committing fraud if you claim a discount you aren’t entitled to, and your garden waste collections will be affected even if you’ve received stickers.
- Let us know how many green bins are currently at the property, and how many stickers you'd like to order (each property can have a maximum of 9 subscriptions, but you can only order stickers for green bins already at your property; to request additional bins or replacement bins you'll need to contact the Waste Team).
- Indicate where you'd like the bin stickers delivered (the delivery address may differ from the garden waste collection address, for example, if someone needs help receiving information by post, or putting stickers on their bins).
- The form will calculate the cost of your subscription, based on the number of stickers and any discount (see information about subscription costs).
- Our online payment system (which appears as 'civicaepay.co.uk/YorkEstore' in your browser address bar) will show a summary of your subscription in your 'shopping basket'; next enter your payment card details (find out more about card payments).
- Agree to the Garden Waste Subscription Scheme terms and conditions.
- You'll receive a confirmation email when your subscription is complete.
Contact us online via our feedback eForm if you have problems subscribing.
Renewing your subscription annually
Your bin stickers are valid for 1 season; we'll contact you about renewing your subscription ahead of the new season.
Using your personal information
Any personal information you provide will be held securely and will be used in line with the Data Protection Act 1998.
Please read the Garden Waste Subscription Scheme Privacy Notice and the Garden Waste Subscription Scheme Terms and Conditions.
