The Home Energy Efficiency Team are passionate about helping you to save energy, money and carbon. We want to make sure that you feel warm and healthy in your own home all-year-round.
We aim to find and manage schemes that will help you to feel knowledgeable about the best insulation, heating and renewable measures, empowering you to make the best choices for your home. Some of our schemes will even offer you grant funding and our delivery partners will install the correct measures for you.
Currently, we have the following schemes available:
- Home Upgrade Grant (HUG2) - this scheme can provide insulation and heating measures to private residents in York, who do not use gas to heat their properties
- LEAD Home Energy Advice Scheme - this scheme can provide home energy efficiency advice to any York resident that resides in a Conservation-area, a Listed property or on a Travellers’ Site
Our team is working hard to find and manage more schemes to help you save energy and money. In the meantime, find advice or read about the funding on offer from Central Government and other energy advice organisations:
- Connected for Warmth – this scheme, run by AgilityECO, may be able to provide you with free Cavity Wall Insulation, Loft Insulation or an Air Source Heat Pump, subject to meeting their eligibility criteria. For more information, telephone: 0800 107 8576
- ECO4 – if you currently receive any means-test income benefits, or child benefit and have an EPC of D or below, you could benefit from the UK Government’s ECO4 scheme which provides heating, renewable and insulation measures at subsidised costs. To benefit from this scheme, simply find a verified ECO installer and ask to be considered for the scheme. To ensure that your installer is appropriately registered, consult the Trustmark website
- Great British Insulation Scheme – if you reside in an A to D Council Tax band and have an EPC of D or below, you could benefit from the installation of one insulation measure, for free or at a subsidised rate. For more information, telephone: 0800 098 7950
- Boiler Upgrade Scheme – if you have ever considered upgrading to an Air-Source Heat Pump or Ground-Source Heat Pump, the UK Government has increased its grant amount for these measures to £7,500. For further information, telephone: 0330 053 2006
- York Energy Advice – if you have any queries about energy efficiency or are ineligible for any of the above schemes, our partners at York Energy Advice can give free and impartial advice. They also offer Home Energy Check-Ups and Whole House Assessments to help you understand your property. For more information, telephone: 01904 922249
- National Energy Action (NEA) – the NEA is dedicated to eradicating fuel poverty and helping those in need to access the correct services. They can also offer advice and discretionary support to help those struggling with the cost-of-living crisis. For further information, telephone: 0800 304 7159
