You can cancel your parking permit at any time through your Permit Portal account.
You'll receive an email confirming the cancellation and you will be issued with a pro rata refund for any full months remaining on the old permit (the refund should be with you in approximately 10 working days).
Permit cancellation when moving out of area
If you're moving out of an area which requires you to have a parking permit, then you'll need to inform us you wish to cancel your permit.
Within the Permit Portal:
- select the permit you wish to cancel
- use the ‘cancel permit’ tab
- select that you are ‘not a borough resident’
- choose how the refund should be issued back to you and click ‘cancel’
Cancellation for non-digital permits
The cancellation process is different if you hold a non-digital permit (a paper permit).
To cancel a non-digital permit email: parking@york.gov.uk requesting for your permit to be cancelled.
Your permit will then be cancelled, and you will be issued with a pro rata refund for any full months remaining on the old permit (the refund should be with you in approximately 10 working days).
Please ensure that you destroy the cancelled permit. If the permit is found to be in continued use by one of our Enforcement Officers you may be charged for parking permit fraud.
