If you're a student in York, you can register to vote at both your home address and your term-time address here in York.
You'll be eligible to vote in local elections at both addresses. However, you must only vote once at Parliamentary elections. It's a criminal offence to vote more than once at a Parliamentary election with the punishment being a fine of up to £5,000.
It's not compulsory for students to register to vote at their home address and term-time address. If you receive an invitation to register to vote but do not wish to register at your term-time address in York, you should email: electoral.services@york.gov.uk.
