Travel passes and concessions

The following travel concessions are available to eligible York residents:

Travel concessions for young people

• YOzone card - cheaper bus travel for young people aged 11 to 18 years
• 16 to 25 railcard - reduced rail fares for people aged 16 to 25 years
• 26 to 30 railcard - reduced rail fares for people aged 26 to 30 years

Travel concessions for older people

• national bus pass for older people - free travel on local bus services throughout England
• senior railcard - reduced rail fares for people aged 60 years and over

Travel concessions for disabled people

• national bus pass for disabled people - free travel on local bus services throughout England
• disabled persons parking permit (blue badge)
• disabled persons railcard - reduced rail fares
• blind person's bus pass

Travel concessions for unemployed people

Visit your local Job Centre office for more information about:

• Jobcentre Plus travel discount cards - (for 50% discount on selected rail tickets) available to unemployed people claiming Jobseekers Allowance or Universal Credit, aged 18 to 24 years, for 3 to 9 months, or to those aged 25 years and over, for 3 to 12 months
• Flexible Support Fund - available at the discretion of Jobcentre Plus staff, to help with the cost of travelling to an interview, training, or for the first months of travelling to work
