Our Big Budget Conversation is an inclusive consultation designed to gather feedback from all corners of York’s community.

The council have appointed an independent research agency to host workshops with residents and individuals from different communities. These workshops are designed to gather individual insights and perspectives and all feedback will be added to the consultation.

Resident workshop groups include:

  • No kids / no kids at home, under 55 years old
  • Kids at home, under 55 years old
  • No kids / no kids at home, over 55 years old
  • Carers
  • Businesses

Community workshop groups include:

  • Homeless
  • LGBTQIA
  • Disabled residents
  • Residents with English as an Additional Language (EAL)
  • Refugees / asylum seekers
  • Armed forces / Veterans
  • Poverty Truth Commission

We have also invited key partners from the City Partnership Outside bodies - The City Partnership (york.gov.uk) and Economic Partnership Outside bodies - York's Economic Partnership to join workshops about future service delivery and how we can work together to achieve the city’s ambitions within the financial context in which we all now operate.

Additionally, you can speak to us at drop-in sessions with community activities or in libraries. For further information, follow us on our social media.

All feedback, including that gathered from surveys, workshops and drop-in sessions, will be analysed by the appointed research agency, ensuring the budget consultation is independently verified and best reflects the needs of the city. Feedback will also contribute to the development of our Equalities Impact Assessments (EIAs).
