Healthy Homes handyperson service

The Healthy Homes handyperson service allows you live independently and safely, by helping with simple repairs and tasks; get support with small jobs around your home if you're:

  • a resident in our area
  • aged 60 years and over
  • disabled

What the handyperson can do

The type of work is limited to small jobs around the house which would take no more than half a day to carry out, but no job is too small.

Typical jobs the service can carry out include:

  • assembling flat-pack furniture
  • fitting shelves
  • fitting key safes
  • installing smoke detectors
  • hanging pictures
  • putting up or taking down curtains or curtain rails
  • securing loose carpets
  • putting up curtain rails
  • simple security measures
  • changing light bulbs

Handyperson service costs

If you receive income based benefits the service is free of charge and you will only pay for materials.

If you're not receiving income based benefits there is an hourly charge for labour of £25 (including VAT) plus the cost of any materials. A minimum half hour labour charge applies.
