Local Plan Evidence Base

Local Plan Publication Evidence Base

A number of studies have been carried out to provide an understanding of the opportunities and constraints in York, and how these can be considered in a planning context when developing the Publication (Reg 19) version of the Local Plan (2018)..

These studies are required by the government as set out in the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and must be regularly reviewed and kept up to date.

The studies cover the economic, social and environmental aspects of our area and underpin the policies in the Publication version (2018) of the new Local Plan for York; they can also be a consideration for development management in deciding planning applications.

York’s new Local Plan is currently under Examination. As part of this process, further evidence has been submitted into the Local Plan Examination Library; this may include updated information presented below.

For ease of reference the Publication version evidence the studies have been grouped under broad categories related to sections in the new Local Plan and are also available via our Core Document and Evidence Base library as a part of the Local Plan Examination:
