Local Plan Inspectors' Report

We received the Inspectors’ Report on the Examination of City of York’s Local Plan on Friday 14 February 2025.

The Inspectors conclude that, subject to the main modifications set out in their report, the Plan satisfies the requirements of Section 20(5) of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 and meets the tests of soundness set out in the National Planning Policy Framework.

We've published the report and recommendations in accordance with Regulation 25 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended). The receipt and publication of the Inspectors’ Report now marks the completion of the City of York Local Plan Examination.

We'll consider the Report and the adoption of the Local Plan at a meeting of Full Council on Thursday 27 February 2025.

The Planning Inspectorate would like your feedback about the examination. If you were involved in the examination because you made comments in writing or you took part in a hearing session, then complete the Local Plan Participant Survey.
