Pay council tax by Direct Debit
Customer must have:
- bank or building society sort code and account number
- council tax reference number (starts with 88)
- property address and postcode
- telephone number or email address
Customer must have:
- property address and postcode
- landlord name and telephone number or email address
- landlord or letting agents contact address
- name, date of birth and telephone number or email address for each occupant of the property
- name of educational establishment for each student occupant
- course title and course start/end date for each student occupant
- student matriculation number for each student occupant
- move in date for each occupant
- previous address, if in the York area, for each occupant
View council tax account online
Customer must have:
- property address and postcode
- telephone number or email address
Customer must have:
- property address and postcode
- names of tenants or occupants
- names of occupants over 18
- moving dates
- tenancy dates
Customer must have:
- council tax reference number (starts with 88)
- property address and postcode
- name and billing/contact address (if different to the council tax property)
- telephone number or email address
- national Insurance Number
- employment details including payroll number (or business name if self-employed)
- bank details (if proposing payment via Direct Debit)
- start date for payments (must be within the next 32 days)
Raise a summons or liability order dispute
Notify of a move into the area
Customer must have:
- address and postcode of the new property
- address and postcode of the previous property
- landlord or letting agents details (if renting)
- previous owners or solicitors details (if buying)
- telephone number or email address
Notify of a move out of the area
Customer must have:
- address and postcode of the current property
- address and postcode of the property they're moving to
- date moving out
- tenancy end date for their current property (if renting)
- landlord or letting agents details for their current property (if renting)
- telephone number or email address
Customer must have:
- address and postcode of the new property
- address and postcode of the previous property
- date moving out
- completion and move-in dates for new property (if buying)
- tenancy end date for the current property and new tenancy start date (if renting)
- landlord or letting agents details for their current and new properties (if renting)
- telephone number or email address
Customer must have:
- property address and postcode
- date became the sole occupant
- telephone number or email address
Single occupancy (Discount Off)
Customer must have:
- council tax reference number (starts with 88)
- full name
- address of the property for which council tax is paid
- telephone number and email address
- bank details (if proposing payment via Direct Debit)
Severe Mental Impairment discount
In order to claim a SMI exemption for council tax, the customer must be eligible for at least one of the following benefits:
- Incapacity benefit
- Severe disablement allowance
- Unemployability supplement payable as an increase to disablement benefit
- Unemployability allowance payable with war pension
- Attendance allowance under the higher or lower rate
- Constant attendance allowance at one of the four rates payable with disablement pension or war disablement pension
- Disability element of working tax credits
- Care component of a Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payment (PIP) with the standard or enhanced daily living component
- Universal Credit including an element for limited capability for work or limited capability for work and work-related activity
- Employment and Support Allowance
