Frozen garden waste

We're experiencing a high number of frozen garden waste bins due to current cold weather. Our collection team will do their best to shake waste loose, but it may not be possible to empty all contents.

If your bin has been missed or not emptied entirely, you'll need to contact us by phone to arrange collection.

Missed green bins are normally collected within 72 hours, but with overnight temperatures set to remain below zero for the rest of the week, we'll aim to return when temperatures rise, and it's more likely that we'll be able to empty bins successfully.

Leave bins that are awaiting collection in an accessible place, off the road, so we can collect them when conditions allow.

We aim to collect all missed garden waste before the end of the garden waste season, on Friday 6 December.

We update our missed waste collections information Monday to Friday, usually by 5.00pm, with details of ‘known collection issues’ and ‘known missed streets' from the last 10 working days.

We collected all household waste and garden waste as scheduled today.

We were unable to collect recycling from Mount Pleasant caravan park, Acaster Malbis due to a road closure. This waste will be collected on Wednesday 4 December; please leave your boxes out for collection.

Monday 2 December

We collected all household waste as scheduled today.

We were unable to collect communal recycling from Lawrence Street (Fishergate) due to staffing issues. This waste will be collected on Wednesday 4 December; please leave your boxes out for collection.

We were unable to collect garden waste from Fulford and Heslington due to staffing issues. This waste will be collected on Tuesday 3 December; please leave your green bins out for collection.
