Setting up a Residents' Association

Getting people involved

All Residents' Associations need more people at some time. These are a few ideas that might help:

  • make sure you let everyone in your area know what you are doing
  • let them know what they need to do to join you
  • make links with other community groups in your area, such as youth groups, play groups, disabled groups
  • make sure everyone can come to your meetings - are they at a time parents can come? In an accessible building?
  • think about holding meetings which allow people to join virtually - for example via Zoom
  • if people don’t come along ask them why, this can help plan future meetings
  • let everyone know what you have done, promote recent successful activities
  • attend all local events and activities so that everyone knows about the work you do
