We provide several community facilities to enhance our tenants’ daily lives.
To find out which facilities are offered by your scheme, check the independent living schemes directory or speak to your Housing Management Officer.
Communal lounge
All tenants can access the communal lounge at any time. A kitchen is also available and open to your friends and family to help prepare for any event.
Tenants may use the room for:
- celebrations
- meetings and clubs
- social and recreational activities
- a cup of tea and a chat
It is up to you and your neighbours to decide what you want to do and to arrange it if you wish. The Active Communities Officer is willing to help with this and to encourage a wide range of activities and outings.
All schemes are encouraged to invite the wider public to events in the communal lounge.
Most schemes have a Tenants’ Association with an Amenity Fund which is used to help pay for social occasions like parties and outings. Most of the money in the fund comes from various money raising activities, which you can take part in.
Meals
Our schemes do not provide catering, but each house has a personal kitchen for your own meal preparation.
However, you may also like to access and use the communal kitchen to arrange lunch with friends.
Family visits
Family and friends can visit at any time. Some schemes offer a fully furnished guest room; this is available on a casual basis for a small charge.
Parking
Parking varies from scheme to scheme – some have lots of space for parking, whereas others have limited space.
We also have a buggy store for mobility scooters with a limited number of spaces in our independent living schemes.
