Our second budget consultation
We want all York residents to take part in our second budget consultation. This is your chance to have a say in how York’s money is spent. We want to make sure the services you need continue, even though we have a £30 million money gap.
We want to know your views on our plans to raise money, save costs, and keep key services running. Your feedback will help shape the final budget. Your responses will inform decisions but are not votes to adopt or reject a measure. We’ve aimed for clear communication to ensure that everyone can understand and take part.
Take part in our second budget consultation
This consultation will close on Wednesday 1 January 2025.
Murton Neighbourhood Plan submission consultation
We're consulting on the Murton Neighbourhood Plan as Murton Parish Council submitted the Submission Version Murton Neighbourhood Plan and associated documents to City of York Council on 16 October 2024. Once a Neighbourhood Plan is submitted, we're required to "publicise the documents submitted on our website and in such other manner as we consider is likely to bring the proposal to the attention of people who live, work or carry on business in the neighbourhood area" to be in compliance with the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations (2012, as amended).
Take part in the Murton Neighbourhood Plan submission consultation.
The consultation closes on Friday 10 January 2025.
York Minster Precinct Neighbourhood Plan Forum redesignation consultation
The York Minster Precinct Neighbourhood Forum has applied to the council to be formally redesignated.
We're seeking your views on the the neighbourhood forum redesignation application.

The consultation closes on Wednesday 29 January 2025.
Polling District, Place and Station review
We're conducting a review of our polling districts and polling places.
The aim of the review is to ensure that;
- electors have such reasonable facilities for voting as are practicable in the circumstances
- as far as is reasonable and practical, polling places are accessible to all electors, taking into account the needs of disabled persons
Take part in the Polling District review.
The closing date for representations is Friday 31 January 2025.
Statement of Licensing Policy and Cumulative Impact Assessment Consultation
The council has reviewed the evidence base for an area within the city centre, known as the cumulative impact area (CIA). The evidence base details updated figures for crimes, disorders, anti-social behaviour and noise
Due to the review of the CIA and to reflect how sales and the use of alcohol has changed in the last three years, the council is updating its Statement of Licensing Policy around the selling/supply of alcohol and what should be taken into consideration when applying for a licence.
Due to the review of the CIA we've also reviewed our Statement of Licensing Policy, and we're now seeking the views of all interested parties on these 2 documents.
The CIA and Policy are reviewed and published in accordance with the requirements of the Licensing Act 2003.
This consultation closes on 2 February 2025.
Proposed Public Space Protection Order consultation
We're proposing to introduce a citywide Public Space Protection Order, relating to Street Urination and Defecation, Dog Fouling, and Dog Control, and we'd like your thoughts and feedback.
The results of the consultation will be included in a report to be taken to a Decision Session in early 2025. The report will make recommendations regarding the introduction of the PSPO and the prohibitions to be included within it.
Take part in the Proposed Public Space Protection Order consultation
Alternately, you can contact the council's Neighbourhood Enforcement team on telephone: 01904 551555 to request a paper copy and a freepost return envelope.
This consultation closes on Friday 7 February 2025.
Library Services public engagement survey
We're calling residents, workers, and students in York to participate in an early engagement exercise to help shape the future of the city’s library services. This exercise launches on Friday 6 December 2024 and will remain open for 9 weeks.
We have a statutory duty to provide a comprehensive and efficient library service under the Public Libraries and Museums Act 1964. As part of ongoing efforts to ensure these services remain relevant and sustainable, this engagement process seeks feedback from library users and non-users alike.
Take part in the Library Services public engagement survey.
This consultation closes on Friday 7 February 2025.
Survivor Voice Survey
We're capturing victim voice through several different channels across the city. We're hoping to establish a group of adult victim survivors to gather an in-depth local picture of some key issues within York. Specifically, we're seeking to gain an insight into the journey from the recognition of being in an abusive situation to then telling somebody else about it (disclosure) and then the process of accessing support.
Take part in the Survivor Voice Survey.
