You need to apply for permission to put up temporary direction signs for new developments.

Also note:
- the development must be of a minimum planned size of 30 bedrooms
- you'll need an accredited streetworks certificate to mount the signs on the highway
- we'll issue a permit listing the approved signs
- you may not get permission for all signs requested
When completed:
- return your application form to our Traffic Management Team
- we'll contact you when we've received your application - make sure to include your full contact details
Application costs for temporary signage
The application cost depends on the number of signs you request:
- 4 signs or less: £454
- 5 to 8 signs: £530
- 9 signs or more: £605
These costs cover:
- administration
- site investigation
Costs are payable whether your application is successful or not.
This charge is payable 3 months in arrears and is invoiced quarterly to the developer as soon as a decision has been made.
Retrospective application costs
If a retrospective application is made, there will be an additional fee for dealing with unlicensed house builder signs.
The application cost depends on the number of signs for which retrospective approval is required:
- 4 signs or less: £909
- 5 to 8 signs: £1,060
- 9 signs or more: £1,210
How we process your application
We require time to process and consider your application before it can be granted.
In this case:
- you can't assume permission will be given
- we'll contact you within 10 working days to acknowledge receipt of your application
You can't act as if your application has been granted if we don't respond within expected timeframes.
