If your postal vote is damaged or lost
We only re-issue postal ballot papers when absolutely necessary (when a problem means your vote is not clear).
You can deal with some postal vote problems yourself:
- if you make a mistake on your postal ballot paper or postal voting statement you can correct it yourself, provided your information and vote are clear
- if your postal ballot paper or postal voting statement is damaged or torn you can repair them yourself, provided your information and vote are clear
You should only request a replacement postal vote if the damage done to your original means your voting intention or details are not clear.
If all or part of your postal vote has been lost, or if you have not received it, it's possible to get a replacement postal voting pack.
This replacement can’t be issued until 4 working day before polling day. On or after this date, you can collect a replacement postal vote in-person from West Offices, we strongly recommend that you contact our office to request a replacement before arriving at the council building.
When collecting your postal vote replacement you must provide photo identification.
If, after receiving your replacement, the original postal vote arrives you should throw it away; it will have been cancelled and won’t be counted even if it’s returned to us.
You can request a replacement postal vote up until 5.00pm on polling day.
